Nail of the Week: Seduction

When I recently came home to a box from Ricky's NYC, I immediately jumped for joy.  Seriously school has been kicking my behind this semester, and my beauty life has been basic.  These nail polishes tho are EVERYTHING & more.  First of all, anyone who knows me, knows I am a sucker for glitter. I love glitter (minus those pretend Dorthoy wannabe glitter shoes every brand is making but thats beside the point.) and am not afraid to use it.  I know that every nail polish brand is making glitter polishes this season, but if you've been a long time reader of this blog you know I love love LOVE (and I make sure to let you know when I LOVE something and its not often.) the formula of Mattese Elite nail polishes.

Anywho, I received 2 nailpolishes from their recent winter collections.  Mattese Elite released 4 new colors of their AMAZING crackalaquer polish in Dark Burgundy, Blue Star, Deep Purple & Metallic Orange.  When the crackle polish fad first hit, I know myself and many others were disappointed by some of the formulas of the bigger brands & how finicky they were to get a decent crackle effect. Well not with Mattese Elite. No matter how thick or thin of a coat is applied, the polish crackles instantly & you can even layer it.

The other winter launch was Seductive Winter Wonderland, which consisted of 6 polishes, 3 of them being glitter.  Seriously tho, the glitter polishes aren't any ole glitter polishes. The formula covers almost completely with one coat, which is rare for glitter polishes. & the glitter its self is almost Halo, which I know a lot of people love.
Love the AD!

OKAY. Rather then me keep going on about the polishes I'm going to show you a series of pictures in different settings so you can just see for yourself how my finger tips looked like little disco balls.

On the Prowl

If you didn't know, Halloween is one of my FAVORITE holidays.  I love love the fall.  I tend to enjoy fall cosmetic launches more than any other season's.  Its only August but Wet & Wild has already released some Halloween collections.  I saw a bunch of Fantasy Makers lashes, make-up & sets at my Harmon Discount store.  I'll go back for those at a later date.  My eyes were set on the limited edition, fast dry nail polish collection, On the Prowl.  I snatched up 7 of the 8 shades.  They only shade i couldn't bother with was Jungle Fever, a shimmery green.  I hate greens on myself.  Of the 8 nail polishes, 6 are solid colors & 2 are glittery top coats.

Its Like Xmas Exploded onto Your Nails

I love holiday time for things other than the gifts (tho i LOVE presents LOL!)  When I saw China Glaze's Holiday sets I knew i had to find them.  I usually get all my China Glaze stuff at Sally's but I'm fed up with them.  [SB:  I've been going to the same sally's for over 5 years longer than that probably.  YET the manager still follows me around like I'm some sort or criminal.  I DO NOT & have NOT stolen anything ever!  She's so obnoxious & rude with her side comments I'm over it!] Well I jumped for joy when I saw the giftsets at my professional only beauty supply.  I snatched one set up quick!

Fall Nails

So its September.  I'm SO excited it's my FAVORITE time of the year.  My birthday is at the beginning of the summer so once that is over, I have nothing to look forward to all summer.  Sure I live along the beach BUT ever since Jersey Shore aired last year this summer has been a overcrowded to say the least.  Jersey Shore my life is your vacation has turned to Your vacation is my nightmare.  Whatever it is FINALLY labor day weekend which marks the last summer of this nonsense BUT for me I look at it as Fall.  Technically not until the end of the month but IDC its fall in my eyes.  Time for oversized sweaters, boots, vampy lips, dark nails and everything sultry in between. Halloween is close, Baseball is almost over, pumpkin patches appear everywhere, & apples are picked.   I've been ready ever since mid August to retire my bright pinks and neon nails.  Especially seeing as most nail companies put out their fall collections in July or August.

The two major releases for me were OPI Swiss & China Glaze Vintage Vixen (or something of the sort) .  To me they both had very similar colors so whatever your formula preference go with that.  There are a lot of emeralds, teals, golds, silvers & purples colors so there is something out there for everyone.
A small polish haul of mine, still lemming some other colors tho
LEFT - RIGHT:   China Glaze Jitterbug, Emerald Fitzgerald, Classic Camel, OPI My Private Jet, Ski Teal We Drop, Seche Vite Fast Dry

Still on my list OPI Diva of Geneva, Yodel Me on my Cell, Glitzerland, China Glaze Swing Baby,  Orly Cosmic
& NUMBER 1 on my list CHINA GLAZE AWAKENING

What polishes are your favorite for fall???

I've been a busy lady

As the weather gets warmer i find myself doing more and more things and have less time for relaxing things like blogging. Last week was my nephews first birthday and from than on i was overwhelmed with planning and baking and cooking for his party. It also seems like kids these days have more social events than i did at that age and now combined. Every week my niece is invited to so type of sleepover, party, bbq. Saturday she was invited to a graduation party for one of her friends and it was more formal so i did her hair, make-up, and nails.

these were done at like 2am because she's a brat and i give in to her JK! i was busy and had promised her so although i was tired i whipped this up

CHINA GLAZE adhesion basecoat
CHINA GLAZE shocking pink nailpolish
CHINA GLAZE pool party nail polish
CHINA GLAZE innocence nail polish
CHINA GLAZE medallion nail polish
ART DECO strippers-- white, baby pink, pink, black and silver glitter
SECHE VITE dry fast topcoat

than i got up early to do her hair which is work and a half because she has so much hair! it took me like and hour and a half just to curl her hair and i'm so used to banging out prom up-dos in 30-45 minutes.

and idc what anyone thinks IN MY OPINION if a girl is wearing bras and shaving doing doing all that girly crap she should be taught how to take care of her skin and be able to wear a little make-up. My parents are very hispanic so she's not allowed to wear make-up up on a daily basis but when she's going out we always play around. An i think she looks fab. with just a little powder, mascara, gloss and i used bronzer so she'd look more alive. and btw she is 13 and i've seen girls younger than her looking hella crazy with tons of foundation and bronzer and eyeliner. Simplicity is key!

I dusted PUR minerals powder in Golden medium all over her face
MAC dark msf as bronzer
LANCOME definicils mascara
MAC eversun blush topped with MAC redhead msf
and used Stepping Out dazzleglass

not to much to achieve a polished look =]

Minx Nails by OPI?

We've all seen them probably on one of your favorite artists, and some of us even lust for them.

and now OPI for Sephora have released Chic Prints. They're patches of prints that were created by MINX and some celebrities for us to have on our nails too. Its not a concept we haven't seen before but now they come in prints. They are limited edition and come in 8 different prints. They are $15 but according to some of the reviews on the Sephora website they only last about 2 days.

So will some of you be purchasing them???

Swatched! OPI Shrek Forever after Brights

FIERCELY FIONA
a spring yellow with a tinge of green

WHO THE SHREK ARE YOU?
a light chartreuse green

I don't usually purchase OPI polishes because they are usually a hit or miss and overpriced IMO. I bought these for my niece who loves Shrek and she picked the colors out. While these weren't the best formula they were OK but the brush on one was out of shape. OPI does come out with creative collections but i'll stick to other brands.

Swatched! Color Club

POPTASTIC
a bright Barbie pink cream

Note -- ignore the sloppy application i just wanted to swatch them quickly as i had just purchased them

Almost Famous
a bright sun yellow cream

These were my first polishes by COLOR CLUB ! I love the colors they offer so i will be purchasing some more especially since i like the formula not too thick and not too thin just as both of these polishes were.
