Sonia Kashuk Complexion Perfector Brush

When I saw images of Sonia Kashuk's spring 2012 collection, this double ended brush caught my eye.  All my looks start off with flawless skin and being that I love brushes, I thought this might do the trick.  Being that I'm in Target about once a week & I always peruse the cosmetics section first (only because its by the door *wink wink*), I sought after this brush for weeks.  When I finally spotted it, I hesitantly snatched it up. After walking around the store with it in my cart, I LEFT it. Yup. I couldn't make due with the price tag on it.  $18.99 + tax seemed kinda steep to me.  A week after, I gave in & bought it, thinking that it was worth it because I'd have gorgeous face.  The brush its self is nice.  Nothing extraordinary.  The sponge part was disappointing.  Obviously, Its a Beauty Blender dupe, but falls way short of it.  Too rubbery, not a lot of give. To actually use the brush was kind of awkward. The sponge part was not glued to the brush so it would fall off. I love all the other Sonia Kashuk brushes I have so this was kind of a bummer. All in all, I returned it because it was decent but the price through me for a loop.

Has anyone tried this brush???

Drugstore Haulings

I love a good deal as much as the next person so the past couple of days I picked up a bunch of things that were on sale =] We'll just call it retail therapy.

So Rite Aid is currently having a 40% off on Maybelline products so I picked up some things i've been needing or wanting to try.  I picked up Baby Lips because I've been looking for a good lip balm and so far so good =].  The Great Lash Lots of lashes called out to me because of the brush tho I've never tried the Great Lash line of mascaras.  I also picked up Line Stilletto because I can never find L'oreal Lineur Intense anymore. & of course Define a Brow b/c that's my go to brow pencil. I saw a display for Jessie's Girl eye pencils so I picked up 2 brown ones to try.

I also saw the display for Julie G polishes and picked up 5 colors. BUT I didn't realize they were $3.99. IDK how I feel about the price considering that I can get other name brand polishes for $4.

At Kmart I picked up 4 Jordana LOL lipglosses on a whim b/c the store was having a friends and fam sale.  I wanted to pick other products but the store I went to had a limited supply and they were all used in some way. YUCK!!! OH and on my Sunday morning Dollar Store run, to get the newspaper for coupons, I saw them putting out NYC Mosaic Color Wheels.  I decided to pick one up and try it out since I see a lot of people like them.

Has anyone tried any of these products ??? Thoughts???

Deal of the Day

Faced with a major overflow of cosmetics, & hair products, I began to re-organize everything in my room in preparation to get new storage stuff.  I decided to browse tarjay for some new ideas.  As with any make-up addict, my first stop is always cosmetics, tho i tend not to buy any there because I can always get it cheaper.  I ran across some Sonia Kashuk limited edition brushes on clearance for around $4!I snatched them up & quick!

The shadow brush reminds me of the MAC 252. And the kabuki is soft & not scratchy at all.  I have yet to try them out but I doubt i'll be disappointed especially since they were only a couple bucks.  The brushes are still online but at regular price so check your make-up clearance areas at target.  I also saw some JK shadows but they were $8.  Idk about you all, but i refuse to spend $8 on a DS shadow.

Retail Therapy

Lately I've had so much going on in my life that sometimes I need an escape.  Shopping has been my escape.  Last week I went to Harmons and Walgreens & knocked some things off my to buy list =]

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in Istanbul and Addisabba -- I had seen some buzz about these online but I wasn't longing for them.  I  stumbled upon them and am happy I did.  Review coming soon but i'm def. getting more of them

NYX Angel Blush -- An everyday staple of mine that I dropped and it broke so I got a replacement.

DUO Lash Glue (dark tone) -- Another staple in my Kit. Only lash adhesive i used &  I had to replenish it.

ECO Tools Bamboo Finishing Kabuki --  I've never had an ECO tools brush but I was intrigued by this because of it being a duo fiber brush.  So far so good.

MILANI Baked Blushes --  I'm so happy I listened to everyone who raved about them.  I've been wearing them ever since I bought them.

Reviews coming soon!

NEW Wet & Wild products Haul

The beauty buzz right now is the new Wet & Wild products that are starting to show up in drugstores.  I had already seen products & swatches online since last week but my inner Frugalista told me to hold off because of a 50% sale at Walgreens this week.  Early yesterday morning I set off to get my morning newspaper & proceeded to snatch up all 6 palettes.  I was so overwhelmed by the new display that I wanted to pick up polishes too but IDK which ones to get.  I got home & my niece stated she wanted some too BUT I was not giving her mine [LOL] so we made another trip to Walgreens & we picked up polishes too.

New Year Mini Haul

For a couple days now I've been hearing about CVS have a big beauty sale, think 50-75% off certain beauty products.  Well since I was basically confined to my home because of the blizzard we had I couldn't make it.  I was up super early this morning & decided I should head off to check it out finally, tho I wasn't expecting much because my CVS sucks on the cosmetics front.
I saw a lot of Revlon Colorstay mineral make-up on clearance for 75% BUT I by pass any & every drugstore foundation because they don't work for me.  Maybe you'll be interested in it tho.  I had heard some HIP stuff was on clearance but not at mine.  What I did find was something I'd been wanting to try for a while.  Some of the Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks & Super lustrous lipglosses at 75% off.  These have been on my radar for a while after reading blogs BUT the price was a big turn off for me.  Honestly I don't like paying over $10 for ANYTHING drugstore and these were about $8 regular price.  I don't mind shelling out for a higher end brand but I like my drugstore buys dirt cheap lol.

[i also picked up the LAST Milani Gems my CVS had! WOOO!!!]
I got 2 Colorburst lipsticks in Coral & Lilac & 3 Super lustrous glosses in Lilac Pastelle,  Nude Lustre,  & Pink Afterglow.

My Initial Thoughts

One of the reason why I normally don't shop for cosmetics in the the drugstore is because I can never test it out before buying.  I kinda sorta knew what I was getting with the glosses but the lipsticks look nothing like the color on top of the cap.  For example with the color Lilac I didn't expect it to be so plumy & DEFINITELY did NOT expect it to have a frost finish.   #FAIL I HATE anything frosty on lips.  But from what I can tell the formula is great.  I went on pigmented & smooth in one swipe.  Same goes for the glosses.  When I picked up Pink Afterglow  I saw the shimmer I just didn't expect it to be so much.  But I loved the formula.  Lilac Pastelle reminded me of a MAC creamsheen at a fraction of the price.  Another thing that annoyed me was the varying smells from one gloss to another.  I wish it was either a uniform scent IE. MAC has that Uniform Vanilla Scent on ALL their lip products.  One of the glosses had a sweet scent, one didn't smell like anything, and smelled like something in between.  I'm not saying I hate them because I don't BUT these are some of my initial observations of the bat.  I'll decide after i use them.

Happy HAUL-a-days

Corney title, I know! It just seemed fitting.  Every year during the holidays I restrict (i say restrict, because a ban would NEVER work for me LOL) personal spending on myself.  Jesus may be the reason for the season, so for a couple weeks out the year i can stop buying myself stuff, right??? Wrong!
I stopped by the Dollar Store to pick up tissue for boxes & always find myself going down the Beauty isle to see if they have anything.  Usually I don't find anything good but my luck changed!  I found a couple of E.L.F. glosses & L'oreal liners.  Than I went to Harmons because I was running out of a lot of my everyday staples.

More Wet & Wild ColorIcon Palettes

I already had Lust & Greed which I purchased months back when Walgreens had a Buy One Get One Free SALE.  Loved both of them.  Although I had seen Vanity & Pride I didn't pick them up.  I didn't know what I was missing out on.  Vanity has become one of my most used palette since.  Seriously I use it everyday!  I love the matte beige color as a highlight & the matte camel color in my crease.  AnyWho onto the goodstuffs ...

PRIDE

Top Row
Matte White,  Chunky frosty White

Middle Row
Matte medium green,  Frosty green with blue sheen

Bottom Row
Matte Dark Navy blue,  Frosted dark blue

With the exception of the Chunky frosted white color they all went on smooth as butter.  The swatches are with no base so you can see they are pigmented.  The matte green reminds me of a Better Mac newly minted shadow.  The matte blue reminds me of Mac Nehru.  The frosty blue reminds me of Mac deep truth.  If you want any of these shadows definitely invest in this palette.  OBVIOUSLY it doesn't have the sleek black packaging BUT I feel that if the shadow works at a fraction of the cost I dismiss the cheap looking packing.  The packaging isn't important.

VANITY

LOL I was tweeting in between pictures ...

Top Row
Matte Beige, Shimmery Pale Gold

Middle Row
Matte Camel Color,  Shimmery Gold

Bottom Row
Matte warm brown,  Shimmery Bronze Brown

HANDS DOWN my favorite palette and I'm not a neutral type of girl.  That should tell you lots =].  The mattes are smooth and so are the shimmers.  The matte beige reminds me of brule.  The shimmery light gold reminds me of nylon.  The matte camel reminds me of soft brown.  The matte brown reminds me of expresso.  The shimmery brown reminds me of a warmer bronze.  Def. a must pick up for everyone.

Wet & Wild Megalast Matte Lipsticks

There is nothing better than buying something that's already cheap on sale.  Its like a steal!  Last week when Rite Aid had a Buy One Get One sale on Wet & Wild I took it upon myself to rack up on some of the matte lipsticks I've been eyeing.  They're usually $2.99 so they aren't that expensive to begin with.  And all of them are highly pigment especially considering they can be found at any local drugstore.  The formula is what really got me hooked.  Anyone who knows me knows that I HATE frosty lipsticks.  I don't even look at them.  But the Wet & Wild are mattes that don't dry out your lips.  They come in about 20 colors from nudes to vampy wines so there is at least one color for everybody.  OBVIOUSLY the packaging is that of YSL or Guerlain but at $2.99 a pop I'm ONLY interested in the actual lipstick.

LEFT - RIGHT -- 911D Stoplight Red, 908C Sugar Plum Fairy,  905D Smokin' Hot Pink,  910D Red Velvet

911D Stoplight Red -- A deep blue based red
908C Sugar Plum Fairy -- A red based purple
905D Smokin' Hot Pink -- A muted hot pink
910D Red Velvet --  A bright neutral red

LEFT - RIGHT -- 916D Ravin' Raisin,  900B Pink Suga',  902C Bare it All,  903C Just Peachy

916D Ravin' Raisin -- A purple plum
900B Pink Suga' -- A warm/ orange based nude
902C Bare It All -- A neutral nude
903C Just Peachy -- A pinky peach

I've been using them for over a week as you can see from some of my previous FOTD's and I have no complaint.

Drugstore Finds

I'm always envious of those who are close to drugstores that update their make-up sections frequently.  Maybe thats why I never get into drugstore make-up until I started blogging.  Well the other night I stop by the Rite-Aid by my house and they FINALLY put in the new Wet & Wild display which has been out for months now.  I have seen many Blogger Babes reviewing the lipsticks so I picked one up.  They also had a display with new Color Icon polishes that were all dark and vampy, perfect for fall.  AND finally they had the NYC summer stuff out LOL.

Left - Right:  Wet & Wild Color Icon Polishes in Prowler & Blue Jitters, NYC Blushable Creme Sticks in Wild Berry & Pink Flash, Wet & Wild Matte lipstick in 901B

Wet & Wild Blue Jitters (last 2 fingers) -- black base with blue glitter (3 coats)

Wet & Wild Prowler (first 2 fingers) -- Black base w/ fuchsia glitter (3 coats)  like MAC young punk mes in polish form

Both polishes were $1.99 each.  I'm on the fence about them but idk why just yet.  These were just quick swatches so idk how they were.  I've never bought Wet & Wild polish before so idk how they compare to the other polishes.

Wet & Wild Matte lipstick in 901B ($2.99)  -- soft yellow-based pink

It didn't seem drying on the swatch & honestly if it didn't say matte I wouldn't consider it as such.  Its supposed to last 4 hours but I have yet to actually use it.

NYC Blushable Creme Stick ($3.99) Pink Flash

NYC Blushable Creme Stick ($3.99) Wild Berry

I hardly ever wear creme blushes.  I just don't like them but since these were so inexpensive i decided to give them a try.  They are actually very pigmented for the price.  I can't say if these are long lasting because I have yet to try them BUT a trick for making creme products long lasting is to set them with a powder.

I'll get back to you guys with how the products work out.  What are some of your recent drugstore purchases and how do you like them???
